Getting more and more ridiculous. Very stressful. No easy solutions, just an onslaught of problems that pile up.

No, friend. It's not an emotional attachment. At least not of sentiment. It's more like "more, more!" rather than "I'm sorry, 45th fish!"
105 fish more or less won't make much of a difference. We don't feed them anyway, so they'll die eventually. I'd rather end their misery quickly than have them starve to death.
